Careers in Connecticut

Welcome to the 5th edition of the Health Occupations & Technology (H.O.T.) Guide developed by the Connecticut Area Health Education Center (CT AHEC) Program as a resource for middle and high school students, academic and career counselors, teachers, school-to-career coordinators and other interested individuals, including adult learners. The H.O.T. Guide is a comprehensive guide to all of the health and biotechnology careers for which there is an educational program offered in Connecticut.

The guide provides valuable information about planning for college, financial aid, enrichment programs, and educational opportunities in Connecticut. The guide also answers questions for over eighty different health and biotechnology careers, including what the job is like, what the salary is, what the future of the job is, where to get education/training in Connecticut, and more.

The guide supports the efforts of the CT AHEC mission which is to enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, by improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals through community and academic partnerships in Connecticut.
